Ayesha Khan

Canada

Hello, I’m Ayesha from Canada! I believe good food nourishes the body and soul, creates stronger communities, and fosters a more resilient and peaceful world, especially when the most vulnerable are well-nourished. I’m currently pursuing a Master of Science in Public Health with a focus on Human Nutrition at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, where I’m deepening my understanding of food systems and malnutrition from a global perspective, attempting to uncover the causes and solutions to world hunger. I’m passionate about policies and programs that work across the health, education, and agricultural sectors to impact child nutrition, specifically, school food programs. In my research on child nutrition, I’ve investigated unhealthy food marketing to children and ultra-processed food availability in Canada – issues disproportionately harming marginalized communities and perpetuating health inequalities. I am also a former Canadian youth leader for the Global Partnership for Education, where I advocated for increased funding for education by collaborating with youth activists and organizations from across the world to organize campaigns highlighting the role of education during conflicts, climate emergencies and instability.
