Aida Yazew

Hi, I am Aida! I am a grade 11 student in Ethiopia. I am passionate about health, food security and community support. During a two year war in my region, I volunteered in providing basic nutrition education to internally displaced people. My peers and I established vegetable gardens to combat malnutrition among vulnerable children. Along serving daily meals of breakfast and snack, we also held classes of science and math to teach children in internally displaced camps. Additionally, I have learnt French and reached on intermediate lever of proficiency. I have participated in Ethiopian Maths Olympiad and received a certificate and an award as a recognition for my achievements. As a representative and finalist from my region, I took part in Ethiopian Spelling Bee held in the capital city. Along with serving as a member of the school's parliament, I scored the highest in regional 8th grade examination.
