Esther Bergmans
Netherlands
Hi, I’m Esther! I am currently studying for my Master in Resilient Farming and Food Systems at Wageningen University and Research in the Netherlands. Studying Nutrition and Health for my bachelor’s, I learned not only about human nutrition but also in more general terms how food systems get built to shape our diet; that includes people, food and the environment.
Besides my studies, I’ve been involved in human rights advocacy. This has installed the belief that food is a fundamental right. I care about fairness in food production and making sure that everyone has access to good, culturally meaningful food.
I am especially passionate about an interdisciplinary approach for creating nourishing food systems, combining life sciences and social sciences. Through Act4Food I hope to help create food systems that are not only sustainable but also just, resilient, and rooted in the communities they serve.
