Evie Prokesh

Slovakia

Hi, I am Evie! I am 24 years old, and I am from Slovakia. I am a passionate advocate for global child health, dedicated to improving the well-being of vulnerable Pediatric populations worldwide. I am studying Medical Pharmaceutical Sciences in the Netherlands and have been the lead organizer of two editions of the Summer School Global Health in Groningen. I also had an opportunity to represent Slovakia during the One Young World Summit last year, where I waved the Slovak flag in the Opening Ceremony, successfully overcoming my fear of tripping on the large stage. I am working towards becoming a global health researcher and have co-authored one paper on snakebite envenoming. Currently, I am working with the SickKids Centre for Global Child Health in Toronto on researching severe childhood malnutrition. I am passionate about social justice and dream of persuading more people to take responsibility for the health and well-being of the next generation. Outside of my academic pursuits, you will find me writing fantasy novels, learning foreign languages, and taking online courses, which allow me to explore my diverse interests, from food systems to astrophysics.
