Leslie Fatuma Bayanza

Congo (the Democratic Republic of the)

Hi, I am Leslie! I am a graduate of the African Leadership University, Rwanda, in Global Challenges, focusing on wildlife conservation. I have interests in conservation, leadership, sustainable farming, community service, and storytelling. I am an environmental educator and advocate, involving high school students in environmental protection through my initiated CHIYONA (Children and Youth for Nature) project in Goma, DR Congo. Through this project, CHIYONA has been able to educate high school students and health practitioners about the impact of plastic waste on the environment. I have been involved in conservation through volunteerism and internships. Beyond my endeavors in conservation, my enthusiasm extends to sustainable farming. I envision a world where food production harmonizes with nature, nourishing communities without compromising the environment. I actively seek solutions and believe in the transformative potential of sustainable agriculture.

I don't view conservation and sustainable farming as separate endeavors; instead, I see them as interconnected pillars of a holistic approach, to a harmonious coexistence with nature. My mission goes beyond environmental education; it's a call to action for young minds to embrace conservation principles, cultivate healthy food practices, and emerge as pioneers in the environmental and agricultural realms.
